Kodak Instamatic

The technical stuff:

Type: Compact 126 Cassette

Lens: Reomar Fixed Focus

Shutter: Yes

The but.. being that the film for these is very scarce and processing even scarcer.

Not the sort of camera I would normally have in my collection but this one was my mother's and has been well travelled. She wouldn't leave home to go out for the day or on holiday without her Instamatic. When I cleared her effects from her flat this was amongst them along with something like a thousand slides. I have been slowly but surely scanning these onto my computer so that they are more readily available and some have been displayed here. There are a couple of shots of the Collusseum on display in the town centre. We have a cafe called Cafe Roma in the shopping mall which I frequent quite regularly and they have a picture board with postcards from Rome so I offered a couple of mum's pictures and they happily put them up there. A nice legacy from my mum to the town. I think it ably shows that even the humble instamatic could take some good pictures given the right conditions. Bear in mind, also, when you look at these that they have been scanned from slides which are around 40 years old.
